Kantha is a type of embroidery originally from Bangladesh, and in Sanskrit means ‘patched cloth’. Traditionally done by poor rural women who stitched layers of old saris and other discarded cotton cloth scraps in layers to create thin lightweight throws, and garments. The whole of the layers are covered in a hand done running stitch. They come in many vibrant colours and are different on each side.
They not only make great bed covers, but also throws to cover chairs, sofas, tablecloths, or just as lovely wall hanging.
We have a number of various sized and designs of kantha here at Samax for you to browse.
